HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The New Year is a time of self-reflection and renovation for me and many others. My birthday is in a few days, and with it being so close to the whole “New Year, New Me” craze, I can’t help but feel like I need to revamp some of the things in my life.
Or maybe it’s just a Capricorn thing? Who knows.
One thing’s for sure, this blog has been an absolute ghostland. I’ve essentially created the internet version of an abandoned subdivision. “They must have run out of money…”, they said as they drove by.
There are several reasons for this, the biggest being that I was completely burnt out. Did you see that article I wrote about creating a writing schedule? In it, I mention creating a schedule that works for your lifestyle…
Jokes on me and everyone else because I’m a complete hypocrite!! I foolishly thought that posting every other day was something that I could sustainably keep up. And maybe it was possible at one point…
But, as they say, LIFE happened:
I had to hire a lawyer to help me end a terrible living situation.
I went through a series of (positive but jarring) self-discovery.
My 16-year-old dog needed more support than ever.
Among many other things!
To make matters worse, when I first started out, I burdened myself with all this advice on how to run a blog from a million different sources. Everyone had an opinion on how to attract readers to your site, how to give value, how to format the articles so they’re optimized for Google…
And a bajillion other topics that my newbie brain just could not hold on to.
I’ve found that to be one of the hardest things to manage when you’re first starting on a journey: pacing yourself.
If you don’t pace yourself, you will fail…
You will burn out…
And you will give up…
SO! Instead of trying to be perfect, why don’t we just have some fun? In 2024, let’s prioritize authenticity and progress over perfection.
I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’m learning.
I don’t know when I’ll get there, but I’m on my way.
And I’m not sure if you’ll find this website helpful, but someone will.
I’m so excited to take you with me on this journey! Oh, and did I mention that I have a goal to become a full-time copywriter by the end of the year?! Much more content to come about that and what I’ve been learning later!
I hope that you can see yourself in this blog; that you are reminded of what it is like to be a beginner and know that you aren’t alone in the creative process and struggle.
Here’s to a new frontier,
GG
